Where was he born? Who were his parents? Elder John was a Baptist minister in Dutchess County, New York and later in Montgomery County, Virginia. He was the father of my ancestor, William Lawrence, and it has been said that he served during the Revolutionary War. He is the most distant Lawrence ancestor I have been able to identify. What else can we find out about him?

I am looking for documentation that would serve as convincing evidence that Cornelius was the son of William Lawrence. With the exception of the common knowledge of his descendants, my only source that implies the relationship is the 1840 US Census. In 1840 William was listed as a pensioner living with Cornelius.

Do you know of any documents such as a will, death registry, family bible, etc. that specifically lists the relationship? An alternative would be proof that Cornelius and Tartulas were brothers since the registry that records Tart's death names William and Sarah Lawrence as his parents.

I am looking for documentation that would serve as convincing evidence that Levi was the son of George Washington Haggard. I have found a website with a very interesting genealogy for the Haggard family going all the way back to 1650 England. However, the information does not include source citations so I'm looking for additional evidence.

Whoever this person is, the connection is on my mother's side of the family which would be the Browns or the McWhorters.
